Where do your ideas come from?
My ideas come from lots of places: news stories, dreams, and places I've travelled to, as well as personal experiences.
What is the status of your Kendra Clayton series?
My Kendra Clayton series is still ongoing. Book five in the series will be published sometime in 2012. I have no plans to end the series. However, beyond book five it may be a few years before another Kendra novel is released as I'm branching out to other genres and writing projects.
I'm having trouble finding the first three books in the Kendra series. Where do I find them?
Unfortunately, the first three books are out of print. The second and third books are only available in eBook format. You can check your local public library, eBay, and The Book Depository for print copies.
Is The Paris Secret a Kendra Clayton novel?
No. The Paris Secret is my first romantic suspense/thriller and features librarian Maya Sinclair.
Will there be more Maya Sinclair novels?
I can't say for sure but I hope so.
Was it hard to get published?
Very! It took me 10 years of submitting to agents and publishers, and tons of rejection, before I was offered my first book contract.
I have a great idea for a book. Will you write it for me?
No. You'll need to hire a ghostwriter.
Will you read my manuscript?
No. Sorry. Due to liability issues, and time constraints because I work a full-time job, and have my own writing to do, I can't read your manuscript.
How do I get published?
Unfortunately, there are no short cuts I can suggest, or secrets I can share, about how to get published. My advice would be to write the best book possible. Join a critique group for feedback. Research the market you want to break into be it mystery, young adult, non-fiction, etc. There are books in your local public library such as The Literary Marketplace, and a wealth of information online, about literary agents and publishers who represent/publish books in your genre. Do your homework. If you want to be published, then you need to learn how the publishing business works.
You mean you won't help me get published?
I'm happy to answer your publishing questions to the best of my ability. But please be very realistic in what you think Ior any published authorcan do for you. It's not that I won't help you get published. I have no power to get you published. Remember, it took me 10 years. If I had known of a secret or a short cut, it wouldn't have taken me so long!
Do you participate in book club meetings?
Yes! I love book clubs. Contact me at angelar.henry@gmail.com
if you'd like me to participate in your book club meeting.
